The registration deadline for the November 2nd general election is October 12th, 2021 at 5:00 PM for in-person and by mail applications, and at 11:59 PM for applications submitted online through the Department of Elections website.

ELECTION FAQ'S

Information about offices, candidates and questions is posted on the Virginia Department of Election’s website www.elections.virginia.gov.

General Election Days are always on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November. Primary election days – if called – are held the third Tuesday in June. Presidential primary elections are on the first Tuesday in March.

If you need help or make a mistake on your ballot and need another one, just ask an Election Officer. They are thereto help.

You must vote in the precinct in which you are registered. Check your registration and precinct at www.elections.virginia.gov.

It is important to keep your voter registration up to date. If you move and do not update your registration, it might affect your eligibility to vote.

ID REQUIREMENT

NOTE: Virginia’s voter identification laws have changed. All voters must provide an acceptable form of identification when voting in person. Those who do not have an acceptable ID must either complete an ID Confirmation Statement or vote a provisional ballot. This requirement applies to both in person absentee voting before Election Day as well as Election Day voting. In addition to photo ID, acceptable forms of ID now include a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or other government document with the voter’s name and address. ONLINE VOTER REGISTRATION

Voters who have a valid Virginia driver's license or other DMV ID can now register to vote or update their voter registration directly online at www.elections.virginia.gov. Paper applications are available online at www.elections.virginia.gov, at all City libraries and post offices, Virginia DMV offices and all Virginia Voter registration offices.
