Mayor Stoney is pleased to host the City of Richmond's annual MLK Day – “A Day On, Not a Day Off” Virtual Event on January 18, 2021. Please join us for a time of reflection on the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., plan a future tour of the Black History Museum and Cultural Center of Virginia, and/or volunteer. The virtual remembrance event will air from 9-9:30 a.m. on the city’s cable station (channel 17) and its facebook page: www.facebook.com/RVAGov/.

AmeriCorps… Become a Member Today!
The City of Richmond has launched its exciting new AmeriCorps program and is looking for passionate people who want to be difference-makers in Richmond, serving as AmeriCorps Members. These individuals will serve to help make positive impacts in the lives of some of Richmond’s vulnerable residents. AmeriCorps Members benefits include:
• Receive a bi-weekly stipend and possibly healthcare, childcare, and more. • Eligible to receive the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award as a post-service benefit, earned by individuals who complete approved terms of national service. The award may be used to pay educational expenses at eligible post-secondary institutions, including many technical schools and G.I. Bill approved programs, or to repay qualified students loans. The dollar amount of the education award is equal to the maximum amount of the U.S. Department of Education Pell Grant and may change year to year. • Transforming lives as change-agents for good.

RPS’ Brothers United: Mentors Needed
Brothers United Mentoring Program will be expanding to Chimborazo, Miles Jones, Oak Grove, and Woodville elementary schools this coming school year! This program, which pairs young men of color with adult mentors of color, is currently recruiting mentors for the 2019-20 school year. If you're interested in serving as a mentor, please apply here.
