Classification & Compensation
The Classification & Compensation division of Human Resources is charged with supporting and sustaining our workforce through the administration of the City of Richmond's classification,
compensation, and performance management systems. Specifically, the division develops and maintains the City's classification system and pay plan,
performs classification and organizational studies, conducts salary surveys, oversees the City's compliance with Federal, State, and local laws governing wages and hours of work,
and prepares a variety of statistical reports utilized in all areas of the City's government.
The city of Richmond has over 500 job classifications in various departments throughout the city.
